Help Rescue Dogs from Virginia Shelters

A friend of mine who is deeply engaged in rescuing dogs out of rural Virginia shelters has set up the website below to highlight those dogs that are in urgent need of rescue/adoption. If you can rescue or adopt any of the dogs on this page, it would save a dog's life:

Help the Westmoreland Shelter

Many wonderful hounds and beagles (as well as other breeds) are available at the Westmoreland shelter and with many more hounds expected (plus who knows how many more drop offs) these dogs do not have much time. Please consider adopting a dog from Westmoreland and crosspost these dogs on other message boards.

Good News for the Isle of Wight Animal Control

The year 2004 was our best yet. We hit an all time low in euthanize at 34% while our adoption/return rate was at an all time high at 65%. A very well done is in order for all those that were responsible for this change.

Help to keep their numbers improving by checking out their available dogs/cats:

Volunteer Opportunity

Ever wanted to help dogs and cats in need but don't have that much time?? If you are over 18, have a car and can accommodate a dog or two, then transporting may be for you. Transporting helps dogs and cats by moving them out of a kill shelter and into a rescue. There are transports that occur every weekend. Think transporting may be for you? Contact Erin: here
